Grateful Experience Booked with Tondi for a 3D2N Orang Utan Trekking Expedition. Dino and Habibi was our guides and Barjan was our camp chef and caretaker. They took great care of us. They brought us to the hotspots of the Orang Utans, Thomas’ Leaf monkeys and white-headed gibbons, made sure we had good viewing spots, checked if we were okay and if we needed breaks, and even helped us to carry some of our stuff across the rivers. They also set up our sleeping area for us nicely and also made sure we were fed! It was a truly wonderful experience in the jungle and we felt so well taken care of. Thankful to the team!

I chose this operator because their replies were fast, and they assured me that they will take care of everything. They are also run locally! Dino, Habibi and Marjan took great care of us during the expedition and we got really lucky, seeing almost every animal we wanted to see. They kept us safe, allowed us to go at our own pace and the food was good too! Pleasant conversations also added to the experience. Thank you for helping me with pictures and videos too! You guys put in so much effort to take care of us!
Mina MMerveilleux Je tiens à remercier énormément Tondi pour sa réactivité, sa gentillesse et son aide. J’arrivais à Medan le jour même et, lorsque je l’ai contacté, je n’étais plus qu’à environ 30 minutes de la ville. Malgré ce délai très court, il a réussi à m’organiser toute l’activité dans la jungle, mais aussi à faire en sorte que quelqu’un vienne me récupérer directement à l’aéroport pour m’emmener jusqu’au logement. J’avais initialement réservé auprès d’une grande agence, mais celle-ci m’a laissée tomber à la toute dernière minute, le jour même de mon vol pour Medan, en m’annonçant que l’activité ne serait finalement pas possible. Jacques a vraiment été un sauveur et a tout fait pour que je puisse malgré tout vivre cette expérience. Le logement était vraiment incroyable pour une nuit, dans un super endroit, au cœur de la nature. C’était une très belle découverte. Le petit déjeuner était simple mais vraiment bon. L’activité dans la jungle était tout simplement magnifique. C’était une expérience incroyable au cœur de la nature sauvage, bien mieux que ce que j’avais imaginé. On allait de surprise en surprise ! J’ai eu la chance de voir des orangs-outans, des macaques et plusieurs autres singes. Les paysages étaient magnifiques et j’ai adoré être complètement plongée dans cet environnement naturel. Les guides étaient super et mon groupe était vraiment génial. J’étais seule, sans personne pour m’accompagner, et j’ai été intégrée à un groupe formidable. Cela a rendu l’expérience encore plus agréable. Nous avons partagé de très beaux moments et j’en garde des souvenirs incroyables. Et pour terminer, la descente de la rivière était vraiment une superbe expérience. Je recommande cette expérience à 100 % ! Et je tiens encore une fois à remercier Tondi sincèrement car son aide ne s’est pas arrêtée à l’activité. Il a continué à m’aider pour organiser mon retour depuis Medan, alors que l’éruption du volcan avait provoqué des problèmes au niveau des vols. Il a vraiment été présent pour m’aider et trouver des solutions. Je ne le remercierai jamais assez pour sa disponibilité, sa gentillesse et son professionnalisme. Merci beaucoup Jacques pour tout ! 🙏 Je garderai vraiment un excellent souvenir de cette expérience.

Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di incontrare ben otto oranghi, alcuni a pochissima distanza da noi. Vederli muoversi liberamente nel loro habitat è stato emozionante. Il trekking ha superato ogni nostra aspettativa, grazie a Sumatra Tour Adventure e alle nostre fantastiche guide, Tondi e Habibi, professionali, preparate e soprattutto persone splendide. Ci hanno organizzato tutto alla perfezione, dal nostro arrivo: sono venuti a prenderci direttamente in aeroporto, si sono occupati di prenotare la camera a Bukit Lawang e di organizzare ogni dettaglio del trekking. Non abbiamo dovuto preoccuparci di nulla e tutto è stato semplicemente perfetto. Il camping è autentico ed è proprio questo a rendere l’esperienza così speciale. Le serate tutti insieme, le risate, la compagnia e il cibo buonissimo e super vario preparato dallo chef John hanno reso questi tre giorni ancora più indimenticabili. Ci siamo trovati benissimo e rifaremmo questa esperienza senza pensarci due volte. Se siete a Sumatra, non potete perdervela. Abbiamo fatto un trekking di 3 giorni e 2 notti con Sumatra Tour Adventures e non potevamo chiedere di meglio. Un ringraziamento speciale a Tondi, che è stato super gentile, professionale, disponibile e anche molto simpatico per tutta la durata del trekking. Ci ha accompagnato nella giungla con grande attenzione e competenza, facendoci vivere un’esperienza davvero indimenticabile. Abbiamo avuto la fortuna di vedere gli oranghi ben due volte, anche con dei bellissimi cuccioli, oltre a tanti altri animali e alla splendida natura della giungla di Sumatra. Un’esperienza incredibile e assolutamente da fare! Emil MGreat Adventure and Fun The guided Jungle Tour was great. We spent one night camping and two days filled with adventures. Rafting, Hiking, watching monkeys and enjoying tasty food in the rainforest. Our guides Andre and Habibi gave their very best for our experience and enabled us to see Orang-Utans from close up. Their English is good and they are very open to talk during the time there. They made sure we were safe and always had a good time. A lot of laughs and nice moments were shared with them. I can recommend this experience to everyone and also directly suggest to book with this company as they always showed a lot of interest in us and really wanted us to have the best possible experience. With the local experience of our guides we were very happy. So I wish many more people an incredible experience like we had.Marta La Cava2-day, 1-night jungle trek - Highly recommended We had an amazing experience trekking in the jungle of Bukit Lawang with Sumatra Tour Adventures, and we would absolutely recommend Tondi and his team. From the very beginning, communication with Tondi, the owner of the company, was excellent. He was always kind, responsive and helpful, organized both our transfers from and back to Medan Airport, and provided us with all the information we needed before our arrival. After spending our first night at the guesthouse he recommended, we left the following morning for a 2-day, 1-night jungle trek. Throughout the trek, we were accompanied by experienced and knowledgeable guides who did their very best to show us the incredible wildlife of the Gunung Leuser ecosystem. We were lucky enough to see orangutans, different species of monkeys, macaques and many other animals along the way. The food was another highlight. The meals prepared by the guides were generous, fresh and made with great care. At the end of the first day, after several hours of trekking (be prepared to sweat!) we reached our basecamp right beside the river. Being able to cool down in the water surrounded by the jungle after such a long day was absolutely wonderful. Spending the night there, completely immersed in nature, made the experience even more special. The following morning, we woke up early to continue exploring the jungle before eventually reaching the river. The adventure ended in the best possible way: tubing back towards Bukit Lawang on large inflatable tubes, guided by the team almost like a very safe rafting experience. Such a fun way to finish the trek! What we appreciated most, however, was the team’s attitude towards the jungle and its wildlife. You can genuinely see how much they love and respect this environment. The animals are observed in their natural habitat without being fed or approached simply for the sake of tourists getting closer or taking pictures. The guides know the forest incredibly well and allow encounters with wildlife to happen as naturally and respectfully as possible. A beautiful, authentic and unforgettable experience. Thank you to Tondi, Ucok, Habibi, Barjan for taking such good care of us and for sharing your love for the jungle with us. Highly recommended

I highly recommend asking for Tondi as your guide. This guide is the best! He’s very friendly and funny, he has a lot of experience in the domain and a lot of knowledge about the jungle and the nature. He has very good english too. I absolutely recommend Sumatra Tour Adventures to anyone who wants to have an authentic and fun experience in the jungle, while feeling completely safe. Our guides, Tondi and Abibi, were extremely attentive to our needs. They gave us more time when we wanted to observe the orangutans and Thomas leaf monkeys, allowed us to take a break whenever we needed, and also took us to less touristy areas where we were able to see other, less common types of monkeys. We immediately felt like part of the family, and the whole experience was so much fun — the time just flew by! We had a delicious and generous lunch prepared by them, and then we returned to the base camp down the river by rafting on inflatable boats, guided by the legendary Raul! If we ever come back to Bukit Lawang, we will definitely do this experience again — and for more than one day! And of course, we will choose Sumatra Tour Adventures again!

Everything went smoothly, from the initial organization to the execution of the tour. Our guide led us through the tour with a great deal of experience, composure, and humor. We felt safe and well looked after at all times, allowing us to fully enjoy Sumatra's stunning natural beauty. The entire team was simply fantastic—friendly, attentive, and always on hand whenever we needed anything. We particularly appreciated the personal, family-like atmosphere. Thank you to the kitchen staff as well; the food was fresh, varied, and incredibly delicious every day. It was a real highlight after a strenuous day of touring. 🍽️❤️ The tour was certainly challenging and physically demanding, but that is exactly what made the experience so special for us. Wir haben viele verschiedene Tiere gesehen, besonders gut waren die Orang Utan. Die Guides haben uns alles gezeigt und waren sehr aufmerksam. Auch beim teilweise anstrengenden wandern haben sie Hilfe geleistet und sind auf unsere Bedürfnisse eingegangen. Besonders sind sie auf unsere vegetarische Ernährung eingegangen und haben uns tolles Essen gekocht. Dir Schlafplätze waren sauber und Abenteuer reich, so etwas sieht man nur im Jungle. Ein besonders großen Dank haben unsere Guides verdient und der Koch, alle waren sehr freundlich und wir hatten eine schöne Zeit mit ihnen. Katharina OhmsWe did the 2D1N Jungle Trek with an 8year old child. Tondi helped us organize EVERYTHING. From the accomodation, airport transport to even laundry service. Tondi and Habibi did the Trek with us an we could not wish for better company. The two of them are not only the nicest people but also have so much knowledge of the Jungle. We got to see many orang utans and lots of other animals. We felt safe at every second of the trek. The food in the jungle was also so amazing - we loved it. Rafting back in the river with Tondi and Habibi was also a highlight of the trip. We met as strangers but left as jungle family as Tondi calls it. If you come to Bukit Lawang - choose Tondi as your guide and I guarantee you will have the most amazing experience!
