Step off the beaten path and immerse yourself in the heart of rural Indonesia with our Tour Village. This unique adventure begins at 9:00 am. Your friendly, English-speaking guide will meet you at your guesthouse, ready to introduce you to the untouched charm of the Bukit Lawang countryside. Your journey takes you through a series of authentic, hands-on village experiences that bring you closer to the traditions of the area.

Watch as local artisans craft brown sugar in the traditional way, made from palm sap, and learn about the tofu-making process. You’ll also see the intricate art of bamboo weaving. Locals transform simple bamboo into beautiful, functional items. Along the way, you’ll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of lush rice paddies stretching as far as the eye can see. These are framed by the towering peaks of Gunung Leuser National Park. Take a moment to soak in the beauty of this peaceful landscape, where the rhythm of rural life unfolds in harmony with nature. At the end of the tour, relax and enjoy a refreshing drink or sip on fresh coconut water straight from the tree!

Itenerary

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up at 9:00 AM from your guesthouse and take you to your ride, either a Becak (Tuk-Tuk) or motorbike.

Next, you’ll leave Bukit Lawang and head through the countryside. You will pass traditional villages and enjoy views of rice fields with Gunung Leuser National Park in the background. Feel free to ask your driver to stop and observe local farmers at work.

You’ll then visit local workshops where tofu and brown sugar are handmade. Next, take a brief walk through the village. Along the way, you’ll pass rice fields, rubber, and cocoa plantations.

Following this, learn about traditional craftsmanship as you watch women making atap roof thatching from palm leaves. You will also see a demonstration of Tepas, woven bamboo walls used in village houses. This is a great opportunity to experience authentic village culture.

Afterward, stop at a local warung for a refreshing drink, like coconut water. If you’d like to have lunch, your guide can recommend a spot. Though, lunch is not included in the tour price.

By 12:00 or 1:00 PM, you’ll return to your guesthouse. If you’d like to enjoy a traditional village lunch, let your guide know. They’ll take you to a great local eatery.
