Full day tangkahan tour

Your unforgettable adventure begins with a hearty breakfast. Your guide arrives at your guesthouse around 9:00 AM to escort you to your vehicle. Once you’re on the road, your driver will take you on a scenic 2-hour drive to Tangkahan, navigating through rugged, unpaved jungle roads. Along the way, you’ll witness the devastating impacts of deforestation, with palm oil plantations sprawling across the landscape. The majestic Gunung Leuser National Park in the distance serves as a powerful reminder of the urgent need for conservation efforts to protect these vital ecosystems on your full day Tangkahan tour.

A small but beautiful village located on the border of Gunung Leuser National Park in North Sumatra, sits at the junction of the Buluh River and the Batang River. This village exemplifies how community-based eco-tourism can make a significant impact by halting illegal logging while improving local livelihoods. The Tangkahan Tourism Institute (LPT/Lembaga Pariwisata Tangkahan) has been instrumental in promoting sustainable tourism practices that benefit both the environment and the community. Additionally, the Conservation Response Unit (CRU), consisting of Sumatran elephants rescued from illegal poaching, plays an essential role in protecting the national park.

Upon your arrival in Tangkahan, you’ll cross the Buluh River via a large wooden bridge. This marks the beginning of your journey into the untouched beauty of the area. From here, you’ll embark on a short, guided trek through the jungle, leading you to the spectacular Tangkahan Waterfall. Take a moment to cool off and experience the refreshing shower beneath the falls. This offers the perfect opportunity to relax in nature on your full day Tangkahan tour.
