Itinerary

After a delicious breakfast, your tour guide will meet you at your guesthouse around 9:30 AM and drive you to your destination. Be ready to discover giant flowers in the wild!

Then, enjoy a scenic 45-minute drive to Batu Katak, a charming village located along the Berkail River, located just 18 km from Bukit Lawang and 8 km from Bohorok. This ecotourism destination is part of an ongoing effort by the local Karo, who are dedicated to preserving the environment and showing how to live in harmony with nature.

When you arrive, you will usually hear the sound of gibbons. Then, your adventure begins with a river crossing, exploring caves and boulders, and walking through rubber plantations. You might even discover giant flora along the way.

Your guide knows exactly where to find them, so you’ll have the chance to see these amazing flowers up close. Rafflesia have a strong and unforgettable scent, and your guide will explain the process of these extremely rare flowers blooming.

Even if the flowers aren’t in bloom during your visit, Batu Katak still has plenty to explore. Take a trek through the rainforest, discover hidden caves, and then swim in the river. There are plenty of opportunities to discover giant flora.

At midday, the team and guide will prepare lunch, either in the jungle or by the river, depending on where you are. Enjoy a plate of fried rice and fresh tropical fruits.

Before you end your adventure, take a refreshing dip in the Berkail River or relax on the riverbank in the sunshine.
